The Polish government has confirmed the arrival of Aisha and Safiya Gaddafi, daughter and wife of Muammar Gaddafi. Rumors swirled on Twitter all day but have finally been confirmed they were in Poland after having traveled through Tunisia. The news comes as violence increases to a fever-pitch in the streets of Tripoli.

What does their escape mean to Libyans? It appears to have added new fire to the freedom fighters who report capturing three of Gaddafi’s military vehicles and destroying a fourth. Reports from @ShababLibya also stated the rebels had destroyed other military equipment and that gunfire could be heard from near Gaddafi’s compound as recently as five hours ago.
