Expect to see more foreign bus drivers on the road

During last Fri (17 Feb) parliamentary debate, the Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam announced that the government will inject in S$ 1.1 billion to quickly ramp up bus capacity and improve service levels.

Dr Tan Cheng Bock and Tan Jee Say together obtained nearly 60 percent of the votes, far higher than that obtained by PAP-endorsed presidential candidate Tony Tan’s 35.19 percent.
Dr Tan Cheng Bock received 737,128 or 34.85 per cent of the valid votes. Mr Tan Jee Say got 529,732 votes or 25.04 per cent.

According to reports streaming in from our agents at various counting centers, PAP-endorsed presidential candidate Tony Tan is leading by a quite a considerable margin.
Dr Tan Cheng Bock is in second place with Tan Jee Say not far behind. Tan Kin Lian appears likely to lose his deposit.

Merrill Lynch: One in two chance that Singapore will enter recession this year

According to Bank of America Merill Lynch, Singapore has a one in two chance of sliding into recession this year, based on its lacklustre export in the last quarter.

It appears that PAP-endorsed presidential candidate Tony Tan has shut down his Facebook page just before ‘Cooling-off’ day kicked in.
Netizens have noticed that Tony Tan’s Facebook page is not available from 26 August 2011 onwards with some speculating that it may be locked or shut down to prevent another ‘Cooling off’ saga from happening.
